The BatsTom Cat is made from select hard maple which, because of its closed grain structure, provides excellent resiliency and resistence to denting, fracturing and splintering. There is no need to tape the barrel as you would with the traditional ash bat. Further, Tom Cat bats, when, dampened, will have their grain raise a curse for finishing, but a natural asset for the sandpaper-like grip it provides. Born in Eastern Ontario, Canada, Tom Cat has taken on the personality of all other bats made. With slight modifications made for the more dense maple, all existing bat models can be made. We have, in addition, developed models which are particular to Tom Cat. They may be a cross between models or the simple result of bats that feel balanced and have preformed on the field. Regardless, theyre made for the individual and his particular likes and dislikes. Models are developed for their ability to adhere to acceptable weight/length differentials usually in the order of -3 to -4. While no two bats are exactly alike, they will be consistent. For example, if you order a Model No. 18, 33 long and 29.5 oz. in weight, you will get a Model 18 as close to the prototype as is humanly possible, a bat that is 33 long and having a weight within plus or minus 1/2 oz. All model types are fair game for Tom Cat or well know the reason why. Tom Cat is available with your name, your team name or logo and in the colours traditionally used (natural, black, brown, etc.). They are also available in a limited colour range for teams or novelty by special order. Two clear coat finishes are applied to all bats with additional coatings applied by special order. Fungos are available in 34" and 35 lengths; again, in available colours. Weights range around 24 oz. We make training bats, as well bunting practice bats, the Tom Cat "Stubby", the "Sweet Spot" Bat, and the Mini Fungo. Tom Cat is always open to your suggestions on bat modeling and their application.
