The Wood
TC Pro wood stock is drawn from the timber grown in the vast northern hardwood forests of eastern Quebec and northern New England.

Beginning with the loggers who select the optimum growth, the sawlog goes to the newest, most technologically advanced and efficient sawmill in eastern Canada. Grade recovery and optimum utilization are both important.

Hardwood squares are cut and vacuum dried to 6-8% moisture content. Unlike the conventional drying kiln, vacuum drying ensures colour integrity and no residual stresses in the wood. Drying time is reduced from two months to five days.

At this point, with the stringent quality controls of the milling and drying complete, Tom Cat specifications take over.

Although 100% clear of defects and no cross grain, Tom Cat insists that the square be straight grained over 20" of running length. As a consequence, only 10-15% of the total kiln run qualifies for Tom Cat Pro Stock Bats.

At the lathe, our only problem is determining which is the straighter end.....the straight end or the straight end. In the off chance that sub-surface blemishes are encountered, the stock is immediately removed and discarded.

Tom Cat and our suppliers ensure every possible check, regardless of size or weight, so that you, the player, will have the best bat possible. TC Pro Stock is used in ALL bats, regardless of size or shape.
